Guide To Unprotected Sex

Παρασκευή 9 Μαΐου 200814:45Voltsek

Take a look at your risk of disease from one bout of unprotected sex with a beautiful stranger: about 33%.

Herpes: 1 in 9

It’s one of the most widespread STDs. This bug won’t kill you, and outbreaks are treatable, but if you get it, you’ll have it forever and women will turn down sex with you forever.
Scary Fact: Condoms might not help because any infected skin to skin contact beyond the reach of the latex can result in transmission.
How To Protect Yourself: Don’t have sex with a partner while she’s having an outbreak.

Chlamydia: 1 in 18

It’s on rampage. Half of all sexually active women will have been infected with it by the time they reach 30.
Scary Fact: 75% of women with chlamydia have no symptoms and never seek treatment, but if you pass it on your partner, you could render her infertile.
How To Protect Yourself: Use condoms.

Gonorrhea: 1 in 36

This one hasn’t gotten much attention. It will make you burn when you pea. It’s most common in women in their teens and early 20s.
Scary Fact: In men, gonorrhea has been linked to epididymitis - a painful disease of the testicles - and prostate problems.
How To Protect Yourself: If you’re infected, the antibiotic Cipro is effective at clearing it up.

Syphilis: 1 in 36

The disease is not very widespread, is easily detectable, and can be cured with a single dose of penicillin if treated within one year.
Scary Fact: None
How To Protect Yourself: Use condoms.

Hepatitis B Virus: 1 in 36

If you catch it, spin another wheel. About 6% of those infected develop chronic infections, and of those, 25% die of liver disease.
Scary Fact: If she’s infected, the virus is present in nearly all of her bodily fluids - you could potentially get this deadly liver disease simply by sharing a toothbrush.
How To Protect Yourself: Go to your family doctor for a vaccination.

HIV: 1 in 36

Roughly 40,000 women are infected with HIV, and another 140,000 have AIDS.
Scary Fact: There’s no cure.
How To Protect Yourself: Condoms are the best way to avoid getting HIV, but you have to use them during oral sex too.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV): 1 in 12

Most of the women who carry one of the viruses that cause the genital warts don’t even know they’re infected. For many women, infections appear to be temporary, and the immune system clears the virus before it can cause medical complications.
Scary Fact: As many as 46% of women under age 25 are HPV+ at any given time.
How To Protect Yourself: Condoms help, but as with herpes, they only protect what they cover.
